Court date continued for ex-Kentridge High teacher facing sex crime charge

A court hearing has been continued to April 15 for a former Kentridge High School teacher charged with attempted commercial sexual abuse of a minor.

A court hearing has been continued to April 15 for a former Kentridge High School teacher charged with attempted commercial sexual abuse of a minor.

Brent Patrick Conley, 27, of Seattle, could receive a trial date at the King County Superior Court hearing or attorneys could ask for more time to prepare the case. He pleaded not guilty to the charge in October and is out on bail.

Seattle Police arrested Conley on Sept. 18 outside of a Seattle McDonald’s as part of an undercover sting where a detective posed online as a 15-year-old girl seeking sex with older men in exchange for money.

Conley is no longer employed by the Kent School District. He was a first year English and social studies teacher at the school last fall until his arrest.

Conley did solicit, offer or request to engage in sexual conduct with a minor in  return for a fee, according to charging papers. Conley admitted to detectives he went to the McDonald’s to meet a 15-year-old girl for sex. He planned to take the girl to his Seattle home for sex.

The former Kentridge teacher reportedly responded to an ad in a Casual Encounters section of a popular website featuring a title of, “Student looking for older men,” according to charging papers. Conley reportedly responded through email and started up a correspondence where he was told the girl was a high school cheerleader looking to make some money by having sex.

The conversations via email and later text continued for two days and Conley reportedly agreed to pay $100 for sex. He agreed to meet her at the McDonald’s in downtown Seattle on Fourth Avenue. Officers observed Conley at about 7:06 p.m. on Sept. 18, arriving and parking at the agreed upon meeting location before making their arrest.
