Des Moines Police arrest murder suspect in Kent | Update

Medical examiner identifies body found June 20 in Duwamish River

Des Moines Police took a person into custody at a Kent apartment complex Wednesday afternoon, June 22, for investigation of killing a 26-year-old man whose body was found June 20 in the Duwamish River near Skyway in unincorporated King County.

David Aguayo died from multiple stab and gunshot wounds, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.

King County Sheriff’s Office deputies contacted the Des Moines Police at about 7:30 p.m. June 20, advising them about a dead body dumped in the river, according to a June 22 Des Moines Police media release.

Further information indicated that this homicide may have taken place at the Des Moines Station Apartments, 2060 Kent Des Moines Road, according to Des Moines Police spokesperson Sgt. Scott Oak. The apartment complex is west of Pacific Highway South and northwest of Highline College.

Des Moines detectives obtained a search warrant on the apartment and found evidence of a homicide, Oak said. Witnesses were contacted and interviewed, and a suspect was identified.

At about 12:30 p.m. June 22, Des Moines Police detectives found the suspect at an apartment complex in Kent. With the assistance of the Valley SWAT Team, the suspect was taken into custody without incident and booked into the King County jail, according to police.

Des Moines Police did not release release information on the suspect or the apartment complex where the arrest took place.

“I’m sorry but I’m not able to answer these questions yet,” Oak said in an email to the Kent Reporter.
