A candidates forum for three state legislative races from the 33rd District is set for 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29 at the Des Moines United Methodist Church, 22225 Ninth Ave. S., Des Moines.
Candidates who have been invited to participate are: incumbent state Sen. Karen Keiser (D-Kent) and her challenger, Martin Metz (R-Des Moines); Rep. Tina Orwall (D-Normandy Park) and her opponent, Michael Siefkes (R-Normandy Park); and Rep. Mia Gregerson (D-Seahurst) and her challenger, Jeaneatte Burrage (R-Des Moines).
The general election is Nov. 4.
The forum, sponsored by the Des Moines United Methodist Church and the Faith Action Network, will focus on the issues of education, preventing gun violence and hunger issues.
The candidates will have the opportunity to address these issues with time for questions from the audience.
The Faith Action Network works for a more just, peaceful and sustainable world. This is in alignment with the Des Moines United Methodist Church’s mission statement to “Feed all People in Body, Mind and Spirit.”
