A decomposed body was found Thursday by Washington State Department of Transportation workers clearing brush along Interstate 5, about 2 miles south of Kent in unincorporated Auburn.
The workers found the body at about 2:30 p.m. Thursday near the 3100 block of South 298th Street, just east of Federal Way, according to a King County Sheriff’s Office media release.
Due to the advanced state of decomposition, it was impossible to tell the gender or cause of death, according to the sheriff’s office. The remains were turned over to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office in an effort to identify the person.
