Kent Police arrested a 31-year-old Shoreline man for investigation of vehicular assault and multiple other charges after he reportedly crashed into another vehicle June 15 along Southeast 240th Street near 120th Avenue Southeast.

A 57-year-old Kent man and a 67-year-old Kent woman were injured in the collision with the Shoreline man’s vehicle, according to a Kent Police statement. The Kent residents suffered serious injuries and were trapped inside their vehicle.

Puget Sound Fire worked to make entry into the vehicle and with medics provided lifesaving aid before the man and woman were transported to a local hospital, according to police.

Officers and Puget Sound Fire responded at about 3:22 p.m. Thursday, June 15 to multiple 911 calls reporting a serious injury vehicle collision. One vehicle had rolled off the road. The collision was near the Kent Covenant Church.

Three adults fled on foot from the suspect vehicle. Multiple officers began to search the area for the three, one of whom was reported to be carrying a dog. A witness saw the suspect driver walking out of a retention pond area and then hop a fence with a dog in his hands, according to police.

An officer found the man nearby, attempting to briskly walk away. There was a short foot pursuit, but because there were so many officers in the area, and the pursuing officer was giving directional updates, the suspect ran towards two officers who took him into custody without further incident.

Officers arrested the Shoreline man and took him to the hospital to await a warrant for a blood draw. He was later booked into the King County jail for investigation of vehicular assault, felony hit-and-run, obstruction, driving while license suspended and ignition interlock violation.

“We want to sincerely thank every witness who called 911, attempted to provide aid and contacted the officers to give information on the suspect’s whereabouts,” according to the police statement. “Catching this suspect, and helping the victims, was truly a combined effort between Kent PD, the RFA, KC medics and our Kent community.”
