King County Councilman Reagan Dunn announced Friday the endorsements of every one of the eight mayors representing the cities in District 9 as he runs for reelection to his county seat that includes part of Kent’s East Hill.

Shari Song, of Newcastle, a longtime businesswoman and community leader, announced earlier this month that she is running against Dunn.

The mayors represent each of the cities within the King County Council District that Dunn represents. They all agree that Dunn has the right experience needed to lead the county through these challenging economic times, according to a Dunn media release.

The mayors endorsing Dunn include Denis Law of Renton, Conrad Lee of Bellevue, Rebecca Olness of Black Diamond, Margaret Harto of Covington, Liz Reynolds of Enumclaw, Bill Allison of Maple Valley, Suzette Cooke of Kent and Rich Crispo of Newcastle.

“I am proud and honored to have the support of such a distinguished group of mayors,” Dunn said in a statement. “It has been a privilege to work alongside these leaders to get results for the constituents of Southeast King County. I look forward to continuing to build upon these partnerships now for the benefit of those in King County.”

Dunn lives in unincorporated King County near Maple Valley.

As a council member, Dunn said he has championed transparency in government and fought to prevent cyber bullying and human trafficking. He has voted against more tax increases than any other member of the County Council and time and time again stood up to ensure the right balance between the rural and urban interests of the county. He has also worked to protect the environment, keep communities safe and prioritize county spending by standing up against waste and abuse.

Dunn ran last November for state attorney general but lost to Bob Ferguson, who also served on the King County Council.

Song, a realtor with Prudential Northwest Associates, brings more than 20 years of experience working and living in the county and has achieved recognition as the Federal Way Soroptimist International Woman of Distinction Award and King County Recognition for Community Service Award.

“I am passionate about my community and want to bring my decades of experience to serve the residents of King County,” Song said in a media release. “With the huge growth that we are experiencing it is important that there is someone with on-the-ground knowledge of what’s happening. There are immigrants, seniors and young couples with children – all working hard to make a go of it.
