STAR 101.5 surprised Emerald Park Elementary School’s Angela Rankin on Thursday, presenting her with the Seattle radio station’s Elementary Teacher of the Week award.
One of Rankin’s students, Lily Helmer, nominated the third-grade teacher for the award.
STAR 101.5’s “Morning Show” host Jennifer Pirak made a surprise visit to Rankin’s classroom Thursday morning to make the presentation.
Each student received a goody bag full of prizes from Sound Credit Union, Dairy Farmers of Washington, KOMO 4, and STAR 101.5. Rankin received a personalized plaque from Trophies2Go, a $100 check and a $100 VISA gift card courtesy of Sound Credit Union.
Rankin also got a makeover, courtesy of Blanc N’ Schwartz Salon in Kent.
STAR 101.5’s Elementary Teacher of the Week is a program that allows students to recognize local, deserving teachers for their commitment to the quality education of children.
