Expect lane closure on Kent’s West Meeker Street near Riverbend Golf Complex

Drivers along West Meeker Street near the Riverbend Golf Complex in Kent will face lane closures from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays from now through July 27 for utility work.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane east of the former par 3 golf course to the Meeker Street Bridge, according to city Public Works staff. A developer is constructing 500 apartments and retail space – known as Marquee on Meeker – at the site of the former course, south of Meeker Street. The 18-hole course remains open across the street.

Traffic control will be in place. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes.

Intermittent lane closures for construction are expected to continue until 2020.

The city sold the course for $10.5 million to Auburn-based FNW Inc./Landmark Development Group. The city is using the proceeds to pay off Riverbend Golf Complex debt and to upgrade the 18-hole course, driving range and clubhouse.
