An 82-year-old Kent man died from injuries suffered in a two-vehicle crash Thursday morning at the intersection of West Meeker Street and Washington Avenue North.
Wah Lem died from multiple blunt force injuries, according to a media report Friday by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office. Initial Kent Police reports had Lem’s age at 83.
Preliminary information suggests that one of the vehicles was traveling eastbound on West Meeker Street and collided with the other vehicle that had been westbound on Meeker Street, making a left turn to go south on Washington Avenue North, according to a Kent Police media release. There are indications that speed may have been a contributing factor to this collision.
The vehicle collision occurred at about 11:23 a.m. at the intersection West Meeker Street and Washington Avenue North.
Police officers and firefighters performed live-saving efforts but were unable to save the Kent man. Police have not released the identity of the man. Paramedics transported the other driver, a 70-year-old Federal Way woman, to a local hospital with unknown injuries. Both drivers were alone in their vehicles.
Kent Police continued to investigate the accident Thursday afternoon.
