Fire severely damaged the attic of a two-story home in the 21300 block of 104 Place Southeast early Friday afternoon.

The family made it out safely of the home after a woman of the household reported seeing fire coming from the master bath ceiling fan at 1:27 p.m. Once the family was outside, 911 was called and Puget Sound Regional and Renton Regional Fire units responded.

First on the scene, Puget Sound’s Fire Engine 77 quickly attacked the home while Ladder 74, with Renton’s Aid 18 assistance, reached the roof and cut a hole, allowing water to hit all areas of the attic fire.

Quick actions of the fire crews kept the fire to one area of the home and attic space, fire officials said.

Medic One checked the family members, and Zone Three rehab provide assistance to the firefighters.

The Board up Company is providing a free service to the family to secure the home from rain. The American Red Cross also was helping the family.

The fire is under investigation.
