Three people were displaced following a house fire Friday in the 26400 block of Timberlane Drive Southeast in Covington. The fire was reported by a neighbor at 2:43 pm.
Two of the three adults were home at the time of the fire and both were able to escape from the two-story house safely, according to a Kent Fire Department Regional Fire Authority media release.
Firefighters found a cat overcome with smoke. The animal was brought outside and resuscitated with an oxygen mask specifically designed for cats. The mask was one of several donated to the department by a local resident.
Firefighters from Kent and the Maple Valley Fire Department were able to limit the fire damage to the living room area, but smoke and heat damage were evident throughout the upper floor.
The fire cause is under investigation and Red Cross is assisting the residents.
