No one was injured in an early Monday afternoon apartment fire in the 23800 block of 109th Avenue Southeast in Kent.
Firefighters from the Kent Fire Department Regional Fire Authority responded to the incident after a passerby noticed smoke coming from a second-story apartment at 2:10 p.m. and called 911.
The fire was contained to the apartment where it started though smoke and water damaged at least one other unit, according to a Kent Fire Department media release. Holes were cut into the roof to allow smoke to escape and to check for fire in the attic space.
All of the affected units at the Mosaic Hills apartments are leased, though no one was home at the time of the fire.
Fire investigators have not yet determined the cause of the fire.
This marks the second fire in this complex in the last two months. On Oct. 3, a three-alarm fire destroyed several units in another building. Two people were seriously injured in that fire after jumping from the third floor.
