Kent firefighters extinguished a hotel fire at about 4:45 a.m. Tuesday in the 1700 block of West Meeker Street.
First arriving units found a little smoke coming from the roof of the Quality Inn Hotel, according to a Kent Regional Fire Authority media release. Firefighters went both inside and to the roof to try to locate the fire. Firefighters realized the fire was localized in an exterior wall.
Due to the limited extent of the fire and the location of the fire, occupants were not asked to evacuate. Although a minor fire, the location of the fire proved to be a bit difficult to access.
The Kent RFA fire investigator determined the cause to be accidental as a result of ongoing roof repair work.
Kent Police units assisted with redirecting traffic away from the fire scene. There was no one displaced and there were no injuries. The fire caused an estimated $10,000 damage.
