Fireworks go on sale on Saturday in Kent at various stands around town but can only be set off in city limits on the Fourth of July between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m.
The Kent Fire Department Regional Fire Authority offers safety tips and advice for fireworks.
• Always discharge fireworks under adult supervision
• Keep a garden hose or extinguisher handy
• Only light one firework at a time
• Do not alter fireworks in any way
• Go see a professional show instead of buying fireworks
• Be a good neighbor and clean up any debris when finished discharging your fireworks
• Do not discharge fireworks in public parks or on school property. Illegal discharging of fireworks can lead to a fine exceeding $1,000
To report illegal discharging of fireworks, call the Kent Police non-emergency number at 253-852-2121.
