As Kent’s new YMCA facility continues to take shape, area Zumba instructor Aya Fujisaki invites visitors to dance to the music on stage at Morrill Meadows Park during the Y’s Healthy Kids Day last Saturday.
Families and children flocked to the park for fun and games, arts and crafts, free snacks and healthy living demonstrations. Free bike helmets were distributed to the first 200 kids, and free T-shirts given to the first 100 kids. The Y also offered a membership booth.
More than 1,500 Ys throughout the county hosted the free event to inspire more kids and families to keep their minds and bodies healthy
The new 50,000-square-foot Kent YMCA, a $36 million project, is scheduled to open this fall.
