Gunshot leaves Kent man seriously wounded | Update

Kent Police continued to search Wednesday for a suspect who shot and seriously wounded a Kent man on the East Hill late Saturday afternoon.

Kent Police continued to search Wednesday for a suspect who shot and seriously wounded a Kent man on the East Hill late Saturday afternoon.

At 3:28 p.m. April 14, officers were dispatched to a report of gunshots fired in the area of the 20800 block of 109th Lane Southeast. Officers at the scene located a Kent man in his 20s suffering from a serious gunshot wound.

The man was shot three times but will fully recover, Kent Police Chief Ken Thomas said on Tuesday during an update about the shooting to the Kent City Council.

Working with information gathered from several witnesses, investigators believe the incident started with a physical fight involving several people. As the fight started to break up and those involved moved away, several gunshots rang out, wounding the victim, police said.

Emergency operators received multiple calls from witnesses and persons involved in the incident. Paramedics arrived shortly after police and transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Detectives processed the crime scene and interviewing witnesses. The investigation continues.

While the gunman fled the scene, Kent Police are working to develop information regarding three black males in their late teens or 20s who were seen fleeing the area immediately after the shots were fired.

“We’re confident that with the number of witnesses in the area, and the physical evidence left behind at the scene, it’s only a matter of time before we can make an arrest,” said Kent Assistant Police Chief Pat Lowery.
