Students from several school districts, including Kent and Federal Way, toured the Kent National Guard Armory on Monday as part of the 1/303 Cavalry Regiment’s open house.
Some of students volunteered to go because of interest in the Guard while others came with their Junior ROTC companies.
While at the armory, the students got hands-on time with some of the Army National Guard’s equipment and weapons, including vehicles used by the 303 Cav. and weapons used by Washington State’s 19th Special Forces Group.
Other booths open during the day offered information on basic combat training, army communications technologies and how the military can help in civilian life through school and career opportunities.
