A center for people recovering from coronavirus is being created by King County and Harborview Medical Center with space for 45 beds.
The recovery center will be located in the county’s Harborview Hall building in Seattle. It sits across the street from Harborview’s hospital. The site will house people who don’t have a home for recovery, and who may have additional health needs that require monitoring.
A press release from the county said the location will have onsite clinical support from Harborview staff. Patients will be people waiting for the result of their COVID-19 test, or people who have minor symptoms that don’t require hospitalization.
The location is normally used as a county-owned homeless shelter. However, the county and Salvation Army through a partnership allowed shelter residents to temporarily move to a nearby shelter.
The new shelter will be open 24/7, have 85 beds and will be temporarily located at the former county records warehouse at 1215 East Fir St., Seattle.
