The Kent School District Board of Directors will conduct a presentation and public hearing tonight regarding the district’s performance review audit.The hearing is scheduled for 7 p.m. during the Board’s regular meeting at the Administration Center, 12033 S.E. 256th St.
The audit, which was mandated as part of the voter-approved I-900, examined the practices of the largest 10 school districts in the state. Kent is fourth-largest in terms of size.
Among the recommendations for Kent were to reduce portable classroom use, implement new standards for fiscal management and cost analysis, hire a full-time auditor and develop a stronger district-wide strategic plan.
