Heavy rain causes Kent street closures, impacts due to flooding

Seven roads closed Thursday morning, Jan. 6

Heavy rain has caused numerous street closures and impacts in Kent due to flooding.

As of 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, the city Public Works Department released the following update:

Road closures:

• SE 256th St between 148th Ave SE to 146th Ave SE

• 144th Ave SE between SE 282nd St to SE 278th St

• James St between Central Ave N to 94th Ave S

• E George St between Central Ave N to Woodford Ave

• State Ave N between E James St to E George St

• Woodford Ave N between E James St to E George St

• 148th Ave S between SE 256th St to SE 249th St

Traffic impacts:

• Curb lane closures in both direction – W James St under the Highway 167 overpass (between Lincoln Ave and Washington Ave N)

Water over roadway:

• 76th Ave S between 21600 block to the 22100 block

• 81st Ave S between S 196th St to S 198th St

• 72nd Ave S between S 224th St to S 227th Pl
