Want to help restore and maintain Kent parks? Then register to volunteer Earth Day April 23 at Park Orchard Park and Arbor Day April 30 at West Fenwick Park.
Individuals, families, service clubs, churches and anyone else interested can participate in the volunteer days from 9 a.m. to noon.
Park Orchard Park, 11058 S.E. 230th St., is in the Panther Lake area, which annexed to Kent in July. Volunteers will help remove weeds, plant trees and shrubs and prune.
West Fenwick Park, 38224 Reith Road, is on the city’s West Hill. Volunteers will help remove invasive plants, lay mulch and plant trees.
Volunteers are encouraged to register at least three days before the events to assure a spot and help with planning.
To sign up, call Victoria Andrews, parks special programs manager, at 253-856-5110 or e-mail vandrews@ci.kent.wa.us.
