Winds from 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph could develop Thursday morning through Thursday evening in Kent and the rest of the Puget Sound region.
High winds are possible during Thursday afternoon and the evening commute, according to the National Weather Service, which issued the high wind watch early Wednesday.
Winds at such speeds can topple large trees, especially with the saturated soils from recent rainfall. Power outages are likely to occur and may be widespread.
A high wind watch means there is potential for a damaging wind event and forecasts should be monitored closely.
