High winds of 25 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph could strike the Kent and Puget Sound area from about 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3.
The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a high wind warning with south winds blowing through much of Western Washington.
Forecasts indicate it could be a short lived but powerful event, according to the NWS. High wind will start in Pierce County around 3 p.m. and spread to King County by 4 p.m. The high winds are expected to end around 7 p.m.
High winds can damage property, topple trees and take down power lines. A high wind warning means a hazardous wind event is expected or occurring. Sustained winds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph or more.
