Ice sink T-Birds in overtime | WHL preseason

The Kootenay Ice defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 3-2 in overtime Friday afternoon at the Red Lion Hotels' Preseason Tournament in Kennewick.

The Kootenay Ice defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 3-2 in overtime Friday afternoon at the Red Lion Hotels’ Preseason Tournament in Kennewick.

The T-Birds, trialing 2-0, got on the board at 5:15 of the third period on a power-play goal from Nolan Volcan. Jared Hauf and Brandon Schuldhaus had the assists.

Nick Holowko tied the game 2-2 at 14:37 of the second. Luke Osterman and Schuldhaus were credited with the assists.

The Ice won the game at 3:01 overtime on a goal from Mario Grman. Vince Loschiavo and Connor Barley had the assists.

The T-Birds outshot the Ice 36-15 in the game. .

Taz Burman started in net for the T-Birds and stopped 12 of 15 shots in the loss.

Declan Hobbs was in net for Kootenay and he made 34 saves on 36 shots.

The T-Birds play the Tri-City Americans at 7:05 p.m. Saturday in the tournament.

The T-Birds conclude their preseason schedule with a 7:35 p.m. home game against the Victoria Royals on Friday, Sept. 18.
