Kent’s Scenic Hill Elementary School last Friday dedicated a climbing wall in memory of teacher Stacy Ankerfelt, the Auburn woman who was killed by an impaired driver last year.
Ankerfelt’s family generously donated money to the school for a memorial. The school’s PTA matched those funds. The ceremony concluded with the placing in the school’s main hallway of a bronze memorial plaque and a photo of students playing on the climbing wall.
“The legacy of Stacy Ankerfelt’s dedication to her students will continue at Scenic Hill with this playground memorial, and future students and visitors will know how she affected everyone at the school when they see her plaque,” said Kent School District Superintendent Edward Lee Vargas.
