Washington Gov. Jay Inslee will lay out enhanced strategies to mitigate the COVID-19 outbreak during a public address at 5:30 p.m. Monday (March 23).
A media advisory to announce the address did not specify what steps Inslee might take. Several states, including California and New York, have adopted so-called stay at home or shelter in place measures that limit where people may travel, shop and work away from their homes. Most have a list of businesses exempt from the policy, such as grocery stores and gas stations.
Following the address, Chief of Staff David Postman, General Counsel Kathryn Leathers and others will be available to answer media questions. Inslee will not take questions from the media.
“This is an opportunity for the governor to directly address Washingtonians to give the latest updates on the state’s response to COVID-19,” according to the governor’s office.
Local TV stations will show the address.
