KBAC presents City Council candidates forum Oct. 22

The Kent Black Action Commission is inviting Kent City Council candidates to a forum on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at the Kent Commons, 525 Fourth Ave. N.

The candidates forum is 6 to 8:30 p.m. in the Mount Rainier Room.

The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments and snacks will be provided. A meet-and-greet session for candidates and attendees is from 6 to 6:30 p.m.

There are eight candidates looking to be elected to four seats in the Nov. 5 general election.

• Incumbent Marli Larimer and challenger Todd Minor for Position No. 1.

• Incumbent Les Thomas and challenger Hira Singh Bhullar for Position No. 3.

• Incumbent Bill Boyce and challenger Mizan Rahman for Position No. 5

• Challengers Awale Farah and Zandria Michaud for Position No. 7

The forum is an opportunity for residents to learn more about the candidates. The forum will consist of a candidate panel with two moderators directing questions to each candidate. As time permits, organizers will collect and compile questions from the audience so they can pose them to the candidates.
