A two-alarm apartment fire in Kent displaced eight families and approximately 20 people.
Firefighters responded at about 4:36 p.m. Sunday, May 29 to a fire at the Alvista 240 Apartments, in the 11000 block of SE 240th St., according to Puget Sound Fire spokesperson Pat Pawlak.
Firefighters rescued one resident from his third floor balcony. Firefighters extinguished the fire in 45 minutes.
Two units sustained fire damage, at least two units sustained water damage and at least two units sustained smoke damage, Pawlak said. The electrical power was disconnected from six units.
“The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental,” Pawlak said. “No specific cause was given.”
Red Cross assisted the families with immediate needs.
Renton Regional Fire Authority, Valley Regional Fire Authority, King County Medic One and Zone 3 Cadets assisted on the call.
