Kent-based Lucy’s Enterprises, Inc., is recalling approximately 13,776 pounds of frozen, ground chicken products that may contain “foreign materials,” according to a press release from the US Department of Agriculture.
Concumers should watch for 16-ounce packages of “Trader Joe’s Chile Lime Chicken Burgers” (PDF) with the date code “3158” embossed on the side of the box. Each package contains four chicken burgers.
Each label bears “P-8276” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The products were produced on Nov. 10, 2008, and were distributed to Trader Joe’s supermarkets.
The chicken was sold in stores throughout the country, including the states of Washington, Oregon and California.
According to the release, the problem was discovered after the company received consumer complaints about finding plastic and bone material in the product.
The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has not received any reports of injury, but the health risk on the release is labeled “High.”
Customers who have purchased the product may return it to the store, full or empty, for a full refund.
