Sleep Country kicks off its annual Shoe Drive for Foster Kids on Monday

The annual Shoe Drive for Foster Kids by Kent-based Sleep Country USA is underway and runs through June 7.

Sleep Country hopes to collect more than 10,000 pairs of new shoes this year, an increase of 25 percent from last year’s 8,000 shoes, according to a company media release.

Donate one of three ways:

• Go to sleepcountryfosterkids.org and a representative will use a donation to buy shoes for kids

• Buy shoes and drop them off at the nearest Sleep County store, including locations in Tukwila, Federal Way, Auburn, Covington and Renton

• Host a drive at work, church or family gatherings, go to sleepcountryfosterkids.org for details

All donations are distributed through Sleep Country’s nonprofit foster organizations and even a small gift of new shoes can make a big difference in the lives of foster youth.

“Sometimes we have kids come in whose shoes are held together by duct tape,” said a representative from Compass Health, a Sleep Country nonprofit partner. “It feels good to be able to give them new shoes to wear.”
