About 100 entries are expected for the Kent Cornucopia Days Grand Parade at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 10 in downtown Kent.

The parade’s theme this year celebrates the festival with “Kent Cornucopia Days – 40 and Fabulous.”

The route is along Fourth Avenue, starting at Willis Street and ending at James Street.

Entries include the Kent Lions “Cornucopia Days” float including Miss Cornucopia and her court, Seafair pirates and clowns, the Seattle All City Band and Chuck and Nancy Simpson, who are the Kent Old Timers King and Queen.

Wayne A. Madden, second vice president of the International Association of Lions Clubs, is the grand marshal. Madden, of Indiana, is in Seattle this week for The International Association of Lions Clubs 94th annual convention. He also will be the International President when the Kent Lions have their 75th Anniversary in November 2013 when he will lead 45,000 clubs and 1.35 million members worldwide.

Representatives from Allied Waste will serve as honorary grand marshal. The company was selected for its generous help to numerous events and organizations, including the Kent Lions Kent Cornucopia Days and Kent Farmers Market, and other events within the Greater Kent Community and beyond.

This year’s local grand marshal are the members of the Kent dragon boat team that went to Taiwan last month and took second place in the international competition.

The Cornucopia Days street fair opened Friday and runs through Sunday in downtown Kent. The street fair is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
