Boy Scout Addison Dussault gathered community members together to improve the look of Morrill Meadows Off-Leash Dog Park.
Through Dussalt’s plan and leadership, the grass and dirt were hand shoveled from the park and replaced with gravel to make a 200 foot long trail intended to help keep visitors’ feet dry and clean as they walk and play with their dogs.
He did this project to help him earn the highest rank a boy may receive in scouting, the Eagle Scout rank. To do this he had to plan, develop, and give leadership to others in a service project.
Dussault chose this project in August this year and contacted City of Kent staff to get approval. He was able to get all the materials for the project donated by local companies.
Miles Sand and Gravel delivered the ten cubic yards of crushed rock right to the park and United Rentals provided the rototiller to prepare the ground. The remaining materials, including light refreshments were provided by Home Depot of Kent and Federal Way, Fred Meyer, Top Foods and Safeway.
