Kent firefighters rescued a man early Tuesday from an abandoned house on fire in the 1400 block of Maple Lane.
The fire was reported at about 2 a.m. The first responding unit fought the fire from the exterior of the house. As other units arrived, the initial fire crew entered the house to continue fighting the fire and performed a search of the house.
Firefighters rescued one man and treated him for smoke inhalation before paramedics transported him to a local hospital. Firefighters did not find anyone else inside the house. Firefighters extinguished the fire in about 40 minutes.
The Kent Fire Department Regional Fire Authority, Valley Regional Fire Authority and South King County Medic One responded to the fire. The Zone 3 Rehabilitation unit was also on hand to assist the fire crews.
Investigators have yet to determine a cause of the fire or an estimated damage to the home.
