The Kent city hearing examiner on May 18 approved a conditional-use permit application by the city planners to add an off-leash dog park at Morrill Meadows Park on the East Hill.
The approval by hearing examiner Ted Hunter gives the parks department the go-ahead this summer to turn 3.5 acres of undeveloped land next to Morrill Meadows Park into a fenced, off-leash area for residents to exercise their dogs.
The proposed park is at 10600 Southeast 248th Street. The city owns the site.
Future expansion plans at the proposed off-leash park include trails, a grass play field and possibly a picnic shelter.
