A Kent house fire at 5:30 a.m. Jan. 4 in the 23600 block of 127th Court Southeast displaced six people.
Nobody was hurt in the fire. The residents heard smoke alarms, ran out of the house and called 911. American Red Cross is assisting the family of three adults and three children with housing.
Kent firefighters extinguished the fire in about 45 minutes. Firefighters had to cut holes in the floor and exterior siding in order to reach the flames that broke out in the crawl space under the two-story house, according to a Kent Fire Department media release.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation on Monday, said Kyle Ohashi, public information officer for the Kent Fire Department.
Fire investigators estimated damage to the home at $275,000.
