A Kent man reportedly accidentally shot himself in the groin with a handgun late Thursday afternoon inside an apartment near Lake Meridian.
Paramedics treated the man and sent him to Valley Medical Center in Renton for followup treatment. His injury was not life threatening, according to an email from Kent Police Lt. Pat Lowery.
The man was manipulating a personally owned handgun in the belief it was unloaded, Lowery said. The gun went off and a single round struck the man in the groin.
At this time, Lowery said police do not anticipate an enforcement action. There were no other injuries and damage to the man’s apartment was minimal.
