U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at SeaTac International Airport on Feb. 17 arrested a Kent man on an outstanding National Crime Information Center felony warrant for vehicular assault.

Gurtinderjit Singh, 30, a U.S. Citizen, arrived at SeaTac International Airport aboard Asiana Airlines flight 272 from New Delhi, India. Routine queries in the NCIC database disclosed the October 2009 warrant out of South Seattle, King County. King County Police detectives and Port of Seattle Police were waiting with CBP Officers when Singh’s flight arrived.

“CBP Officers at SeaTac Airport frequently encounter individuals returning to the United States who are subjects of outstanding warrants,” said Area Port Director Rolando Suliveras, Jr. “Although combating terrorism and preventing implements of terror from entering our country is our number one priority, apprehending individuals with outstanding warrants is an important function we perform at our borders as well.”

During the month of January 2010, CBP Officers at SeaTac Airport apprehended 13 individuals who were subjects of outstanding warrants ranging from misdemeanors to felonies. Singh was the sixth individual CBP officers apprehended in February.

NCIC is a centralized automated database designed to share information among law enforcement agencies. Warrants in NCIC cover a wide range of offenses, including money laundering, robbery, narcotics distribution, sexual abuse of children, violation of protection orders, fraud, failure to appear, larceny and military desertion.
