Kent Police on Tuesday morning arrested four men, two women and two juvenile girls for investigation of robbery and assault in connection with an armed takeover of two men at a Kent apartment. One of the victims actually assisted in chasing the group and alerting Kent Police to the group’s whereabouts.
The two men were reportedly held at gunpoint and tied up at the home of one of the men at the Brentwood Apartments, 25000 Lake Fenwick Road, according to an e-mail from Kent Police Lt. Pat Lowery. The men and women allegedly stole a Lexus sedan that belonged to one of the men, cash and cellphones.
The owner of the Lexus managed to escape his bindings and used a neighbor’s car to pursue the eight, who were in the Lexus and two other vehicles. The man called 911 at about 6:10 a.m. Tuesday as he followed the three cars from the West Hill to the East Hill to the Washington Park Apartments, 11020 S.E. Kent-Kangley Road.
Officers arrived at the Washington Park Apartments and set up a perimeter of police vehicles around the complex.
Police cars cut off two vehicles that attempted to leave the complex and arrested eight people that were inside of those vehicles.
There were no injuries during the reported robbery or the arrests.
The incident apparently started when the Kent man and his friend met two women late Monday night at the Muckleshoot Casino in Auburn and invited the women to the one man’s Kent apartment on the West Hill, Lowery wrote in the e-mail.
The two women sent numerous text messages while in the apartment of the Kent man. At about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, four men and two juvenile girls showed up at the apartment and held the two men at gunpoint before tying up the men.
Police recovered the Lexus and the two other vehicles reportedly involved in the crime.
The arrested individuals include women ages 18 and 19 from Burien, a 15-year-old Kent girl, a 17-year-old Burien girl, a 20-year-old Renton man and a 23-year-old Seattle man. Two of the other men have yet to be identified.
Detectives were interviewing all eight Tuesday at Kent Police facilities. Police plan to book the adults in the Kent city jail and the juveniles (under age 18) will be taken to the King County Juvenile Corrections Center in Seattle.
