Kent man enters plea in child-pornography case; allegedly sought work as a nanny

King County prosecutors charged a 45-year-old Kent man Jan. 6 for possessing child pornography in connection with photos and videos the man reportedly downloaded last summer on his laptop computer at his Kent apartment.

Bruce A. Williamson pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Wednesday morning at the King County Courthouse in Seattle to a charge of possessing depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. He is not in custody.

According to charging papers in the case, Williamson told Seattle Police detectives that he estimated he had downloaded as many as 1,000 images and videos of child pornography. The Kent man also reportedly sent out two e-mails last summer to seek work as a nanny.

Seattle Police were tipped off about the case when officials at Photobucket, an Internet Service Provider and a subsidiary of Yahoo, sent a report in July 2008 to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. That organization then forwarded the report to the Internet Crimes Against Children regional task force operated by the Seattle Police.

Through e-mail addresses, Internet protocol addresses and search warrants of Comcast, Yahoo and Photobucket, police were able to track down a computer at a Kent apartment complex where Williamson lived.

Detectives interviewed two other residents of the apartment before they talked to Williamson.

Detectives reportedly found 25 images of child pornography on Williamson’s computer, including photos of sexual abuse between a man and a boy younger than age 3.

Prosecutors charged Williamson in connection to images found on his computer between July 27, 2009 and Aug. 11, 2009.
