A hit-and-run driver struck and killed a 57-year-old Kent man early Tuesday on Interstate 5 near Woodburn, Ore., south of Portland.

Delbert E. Cooper was found laying in the median of I-5 at about 4 a.m. Tuesday, according to a Oregon State Police (OSP) media release. Emergency personnel arrived after reports of a person laying in the median and found Cooper dead.

OSP Troopers, detectives and crime lab personnel remained on scene for several hours investigating the incident. During the investigation they determined the suspect vehicle was an early 2000s silver Ford Focus (fragments of a headlight lens). That information was released to the public Tuesday evening urging for the public to call with information.

Later that night, OSP received a tip from a person that they believed they knew the location of a vehicle matching the description. OSP detectives and troopers responded to a location in Tualatin and located a 2002 Ford Focus with front driver’s side damage consistent with what the investigation had revealed.

OSP has not been able to make contact with the registered owner of the vehicle, Juan Enrique Guzman Rodriguez, 45, of Salem (pictured below).

The public is urged to call 503-375-3555 if they have information about Guzman Rodriguez’s location or information about this incident.

State Police said they had no further information to release at this time.
