Kent man suspected of killing mother’s boyfriend turns himself in

Son, 20, allegedly shot 45-year-old man Oct. 29 at East Hill home

A 20-year-old Kent man, who allegedly shot and killed his mother’s 45-year-old boyfriend, turned himself in to Kent Police.

The man, accompanied by his attorney, turned himself in on Nov. 1, according to a Nov. 2 police statement. Police arrested him for investigation of killing the boyfriend on Oct. 29 at a home in the 14300 block of SE 282nd Street on the East Hill. The man remained in custody Nov. 2 at the King County Correctional Facility in Seattle. The Kent Reporter is not yet naming the man because he has yet to be charged.

Detectives had been following leads and actively searching for the man for the past several days, according to police. Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading up to the incident.

Officers arrived to find the boyfriend badly bleeding from gunshot wounds, according to police. Officers began live-saving measures and called for fire personnel and medics to assist. Paramedics transported the man to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where he later died.

A woman told police that she and her boyfriend were in a physical altercation inside their home when her son shot her boyfriend several times, according to police. The son then left the residence prior to police arriving.

Police recovered a 9mm handgun at the scene. Police believe it is the same firearm used in the shooting, but forensic processing will be conducted to make an official determination, police said.

All three people involved in this incident lived at the residence, according to police.
