Tell Metro Transit your ideas for the future of bus transportation in an online survey.

Kent city officials want residents to take the time to respond to online surveys about public transportation and city parks.

The deadline for both surveys is coming up soon, Sunday, Aug. 9 for the Metro bus plan and Tuesday, Aug. 11 for city parks.

1. How will you use transit over the next five, 10, 25 years?

With more people and more jobs expected in King County by 2040, Metro is creating a long-range plan that will help get you where you want to go.

Take Metro’s online survey now through this Sunday, Aug. 9. Tell Metro what kinds of service you want to see in Kent.

2. But we know taking the bus doesn’t work for everyone. Some say…

• The bus takes too long

• The bus doesn’t travel where I need it go

• I can get to work but can’t get home

• Riding the bus doesn’t work with my childcare pick up/drop off schedule.

Operating large buses 24 hours-a-day citywide simply isn’t feasible; but other creative “out of the bus” solutions may better serve our community. Everything’s on the table…

• bike-sharing

• shuttles

• carpool apps

• other ideas?

3. And the city wants to know what you think about Kent’s Parks and Trails system. Tell us with this easy and convenient online survey before Tuesday, Aug. 11.

Kent has a number of great parks. Unfortunately, a lot of the city’s parks contain amenities that are close to the end of their useful life. And recent capital budgets have not been nearly enough to fix everything that needs fixing.

The short survey asks what you like, and what you don’t like about Kent’s parks and trails system. We also need to know if parks are meeting your needs, and if not, we want your ideas on how the system could be improved.

“We know everyone is busy with work, summer schedules and family obligations,” said city spokeswoman Michelle Wilmot. “It’s important we hear from you though… and hope you find these online opportunities a convenient alternative to public meetings.”
