A Kent Police officer pulled over a Toyota pickup for a defective rear brake light and soon found out the driver was missing much more than a light as he had no valid operator’s license, no registration and no proof of insurance.

The officer arrested the driver March 17 in the 9700 block of South 208th Street for investigation of criminal attempted identification theft, making false statements and possession of another’s ID, according to the police report. He also cited the driver for no valid operator’s license, no registration and no proof of insurance.

The driver gave police a driver’s license that expired in 2012 and that belonged to someone else. The man told officers the license belonged to his brother who lived in El Salvador.

Police later checked with the state Department of Licensing’s license integrity unit and found out the man had obtained two driver licenses and an ID card in another man’s name.

Assault

Police arrested a man for investigation of fourth-degree assault after he reportedly pushed and punched the manager of an adult care center at about 9:01 p.m. March 16 in the 10800 block of Southeast 232nd Place.

The man, a patient at the home, became upset with the manager because he had to give up his medication for storage in a locked box since patients aren’t allowed to keep medications in their rooms, according to the police report.

The man then entered someone else’s room and the manager told him he needed to leave that room. The man exited the room but allegedly pushed the manager and punched him in the face, breaking his glasses.

The man told police he slapped the manager because he was mad.

Theft

Police cited a man for investigation of third-degree theft after he reportedly took a pair of shoes from the Goodwill store, 23313 Pacific Highway S.

The incident occurred at about 1 p.m. March 16 when a loss prevention officer at the store watched the man take a pair of shoes and leave without paying for them, according to the police report.

The man also had a warrant out of Federal Way.

Assault

Officers arrested a man for investigation of fourth-degree assault after he allegedly pushed an officer in the chest during a dispute about a theft at about 7:47 p.m. at the Home Depot parking lot, 26120 104th Ave. S.E.

Officers responded to the store to investigate thefts where one person would steal items and another person would return the items for cash, according to the police report.

While an officer sat in his patrol car, a man approached the vehicle. The officer exited the car to talk to the man. When the officer reached for the man’s elbow, the man reportedly shoved the officer in the chest. The officer then grabbed the man, pushed him against the patrol car and placed him in handcuffs.

Store personnel said the man had been involved in the thefts. The man had his identification as well as IDs of two other people in his possession. He told police he had found the other IDs.
