Kent Police arrested a man for investigation of possession of a stolen vehicle after an officer spotted him pumping gas into the car.

A patrol officer just happened to pull into the Circle K, 10255 S.E. 240th St., at about 2:56 a.m. on April 4 and noticed a man pumping gas. The man initially looked at the police vehicle but then appeared to intentionally look away, according to the police report.

The officer ran the license plate and discovered the 2000 Honda Civic had been reported stolen April 2 out of Des Moines. Police apprehended the man who told officers a guy had asked him to get something out of the car. He denied stealing the vehicle.

Police searched the vehicle and found a key jammed into the ignition that didn’t work to open the doors. They also arrested the man for investigation of possession of drug paraphernalia. The man had a female passenger with him, but she was released by police.

The Honda had been stolen from the 21600 block of Pacific Highway South in Des Moines. The car’s owner told police he had not given anyone permission to use the vehicle.

Man resists arrest

Officers arrested a man for investigation of resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and for a couple of warrants at about 7:51 p.m. on April 2 at a Lake Fenwick Estates apartment in the 4500 block of South 251st Place.

Initial calls indicated a verbal argument with a woman threatening to kill herself, according to the police report.

Police knocked on the door of the unit where the argument had been heard. A woman answered the door and officers also saw a man inside the apartment. Officers found out the man had warrants out of Nevada for failing to appear in court on drug charges. When police tried to handcuff the man, he reportedly resisted by making a fist and pulling his arm away.

One officer used a goose-neck hold on the man while a second officer punched the man once in the chest before they were able to get him on the floor and in handcuffs. Nevada officials said they wanted the man extradited to their state.

The woman inside the apartment told police a female friend visited earlier and talked about killing herself but she didn’t think the friend was serious. The friend left the apartment before police arrived.

Man exposes himself

Police arrested a man for investigation of indecent exposure after he reportedly exposed himself to a neighbor woman at about 4:37 p.m. on April 4 at a house in the 2900 block of South 256th Street.

The man allegedly knocked on his neighbor’s door and when the woman answered, he told her she needed to get laid, pulled down his pants and exposed himself, according to the police report. The woman said the man had a history of making inappropriate comments to her.

The man denied he exposed himself and said he never went to his neighbor’s house. He then admitted he talked to her. He said she was his former girlfriend and they had dated for about 10 years before they broke up last year.

Man assaults parents

Officers arrested a man for investigation of fourth-degree assault after he allegedly punched and pushed his parents during a dispute at about 10 p.m. on April 4 at a home in the 800 block of First Avenue North.

Officers responded to the home on a welfare check. The man had reportedly grabbed his sister, and the mother and father tried to get him away from his sister, according to the police report. He allegedly pushed his mother to the ground and swung his fists at his father.

The man has a history of mental illness and recently had been released from a psychiatric hospital. He had previous incidents of aggressive behavior toward his family.

The man denied the assault. He said his family was lying. He told officers he would treat his family well in the future.
