Kent Police arrested a woman for investigation of third-degree theft and obstructing a public official after she allegedly took about $245 worth of underwear, bras and belts from a store and then tried to run from officers.

The incident occurred at about 1:38 p.m. July 1 at the Fred Meyer store, 25250 Pacific Highway S., on the West Hill, according to the police report.

A store security officer saw the woman reportedly take items, place them in her backpack and exit the store without paying for the items. When the security officer tried to stop the woman in the parking lot, she fled on foot northbound on Pacific Highway South. Security then called police.

A nearby police officer heard the report and stopped the woman along the highway. When the officer started to talk to the woman, she turned and ran across the street.

The officer then pulled out a Taser and told the woman to stop, which she did. The woman told police all she did was take some underwear.

The woman reportedly took 20 items, which included underwear, bras and three belts.

Drugs, unlawful bus conduct

Officers arrested a man for investigation of unlawful bus conduct, obstructing an officer and possession of marijuana at about 9:59 p.m. July 1 at the Kent Transit Center, 301 N. Railroad Ave.

Officers responded to a report from a Metro bus driver about a fight on a bus, according to the police report.

Police stopped the man as he exited the bus at the transit center. The man reportedly became orally combative and argued with officers about stopping him. The man carried a vodka bottle as he left the bus.

Officers discovered the man had 11.4 grams of marijuana stuffed inside a Crown Royal bag.

While standing next to a patrol car, the man told police he needed a restroom. Officers told him he had to wait until he got to the city jail. The man then urinated on the street.

Assault

Police arrested a man for investigation of fourth-degree assault after he reportedly punched a man at about 10:23 p.m. July 3 in the parking lot at Gonzo’s Bar and Grill, 15423 S.E. Kent Kangley Road.

Officers arrived at the parking lot to find a man bleeding from the face and head, according to the police report.

The man with the injuries said another man drove up in truck, got out and started to punch him. He said he knew the man since they both were about 12 years old.

The arrested man told police the other man had threatened him and his family. When asked about what happened in the parking lot, the man said he wanted an attorney.

Police noted that the arrested man had slurred speech and was drunk as they tried to talk to him.

A witness told officers the man had slammed the injured man’s head into a vehicle during the fight.

Attempted robbery

Officers arrested a man for investigation of attempted robbery after he allegedly used a chokehold and punched a store employee outside a 7-Eleven store July 3 at 10610 S.E. Kent Kangley Road.

The employee was taking out trash when a man came up from behind and put him in a chokehold and then punched him in the head, according to the police report.

The man went through the employee’s pockets but did not find anything of value. The man then fled on foot.

Police tracked down the man in the bushes at a nearby Burger King. He declined to talk to officers. Police had trespassed the man from the store earlier in the year for harassing employees and customers.

Multiple charges

Police arrested a man and a woman for investigation of a variety of charges after an officer spotted a Cadillac traveling about 60 mph in a 35 mph zone at about 9:43 a.m. July 3 near Jason Avenue North and East James Street.

A motorcycle officer pulled over the vehicle near State Avenue North and James Street, according to the police report.

The woman tried to break away from the officer outside the car and a male passenger yelled at the officer for trying to arrest the woman.

Police arrested the woman for investigation of no valid operator’s license, resisting arrest and providing false information. Officers arrested the man for investigation of obstructing, making a false statement and a Tukwila warrant for lewd conduct.
