Kent pedestrian injured in collision with van

A 62-year-old Kent woman suffered life-threatening injuries after a collision with a van coming out of a driveway on Saturday night in the 24100 block of 104th Avenue Southeast.

Preliminary reports indicated that the woman was walking on the sidewalk, northbound along 104th Avenue Southeast, according to a Kent Police media release. As she crossed a driveway and in front of a vehicle that was waiting to make a right-hand turn and enter the roadway, the vehicle pulled out from the driveway and collided with the woman, knocking her to the ground.

Paramedics transported the woman to a local hospital.

The vehicle driver, a 48-year-old man, was uninjured.

Traffic investigators processed the accident scene, collected evidence and interviewed the driver of the van. There appears to be no evidence to suggest that drugs or alcohol contributed to the collision. Investigators will complete a full review of the circumstances and evidence this week before concluding their investigation.  A decision on charges will be made once the investigation is completed.
