Kent Police arrest 14-year-old boy for investigation of rape of 8-year-old girl

Kent Police arrested a 14-year-old Kent boy for investigation of first-degree rape in connection with an alleged sexual assault of an 8-year-old girl.

Kent Police arrested a 14-year-old Kent boy for investigation of first-degree rape in connection with an alleged sexual assault of an 8-year-old girl.

Police responded at about 4:27 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7 to the Red Lion Hotel, 25100 74th Ave. S., for a report of a sexual assault in the woods behind the hotel, according to a Kent Police media release. After investigating the case, police arrested the boy for investigation of rape rather than sexual assault.

The girl entered the hotel wearing only a shirt and socks, according to probable cause documents filed in King County Juvenile Court. She had significant swelling to her head.

The girl told police the boy was a friend of one of her family members. Police searched the area and tracked down the boy at a nearby residence.

“A case of this nature is no doubt disturbing, and hits us all to the core” said Detective Melanie Frazier. “We are very proud that our officers were able to quickly get this dangerous offender off our streets.”

The girl received treatment at a nearby hospital.

The boy reportedly admitted to police that he had sex with the girl, according to court documents. He claimed it was consensual sex and believed the girl to be 11 years old. He also said he had struck the girl twice in the face when she said she was going to call police.

Although just 14, the boy is listed in documents as 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 230 pounds.

The boy remains in custody at the King County Juvenile Detention Center in Seattle. King County prosecutors are expected to file charges against the boy this week. He is scheduled to be in Juvenile Court Thursday.

Frazier said the boy had enrolled at Kent-Meridian High School but had not attended classes for some time.
