Kent Police arrive Tuesday at the Birch Creek Apartments on the East Hill to arrest a man and a woman in connection with a prescription drug forgery ring.

Kent Police arrested a Kent man and woman Tuesday morning at an East Hill apartment complex for investigation of identify theft and prescription forgery.

Police and Valley SWAT personnel also served a search warrant at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the unit at the Birch Creek Apartments, 12953 S.E. 275th St. while investigating a prescription forgery ring, according to a Kent Police media release.

Officers first became aware of the location while investigating a recent prescription forgery. The officers identified the source of the forged prescription as a 33-year-old Kent man.

Officers learned that the counterfeiting operation was run from the man’s apartment. Police also learned that the person of interest was a convicted felon and was in possession of at least one firearm.

Due to the presence of the firearm and the suspect’s history of violent crime, police used a SWAT team to make contact. Early Tuesday, Kent Police surrounded the residence, evacuated neighboring apartments and then used a police negotiator to call the suspect and his housemate from the apartment.

The man and woman, who also is 33, exited without incident. Detectives recovered an extensive amount of evidence, including computers, pertaining to the forgeries and ID theft. They also found two guns.

Police also arrested the man for investigation as a felon possessing a firearm.

Both the man and woman are in custody at the Kent city jail.
