Incidents include DUI pursuit, stabbing, assault and multiple shootings

A sampling of Kent Police incidents July 12-24:

July 12

DUI pursuit: 11:30 a.m., officers were involved in a pursuit for suspicion of DUI. During the pursuit officers performed two pursuit immobilization technique maneuvers to stop the vehicle. Both maneuvers were successful, however, officers were unable to maintain a pin on the vehicle. The pursuit continued to Covington after finally getting the vehicle pinned and using pepper ball to get the driver to comply. The driver was arrested and taken to Valley Medical Center in Renton for a blood draw. While there was minor damage to vehicles, no officers or civilians were hurt.

July 13

Restaurant stabbing: 3:14 p.m., officers were dispatched to a stabbing at Mediterranean Breeze restaurant, 406 Washington Ave. S. A victim had sustained at least one significant stab wound causing a significant amount of blood loss. The victim also had an obvious head wound, likely from blunt force trauma or sustained in a fall. The victim was in obvious pain and was not forthcoming with information. A K-9 track was unsuccessful. Guardian One helicopter from the King County Sheriff’s Office assisted, also with negative results.

July 14

Injured man: 5:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 27200 block of 135th Avenue SE regarding a subject who sustained lacerations to his arms. The male was unknown to any of the residents, he was lying in the backyard of their home, and was slumped over unconscious. Officers immediately began CPR and treating his injuries until Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority arrived to take over. The subject had numerous puncture wounds on his arms and back, abrasions, and lacerations. He was taken to the hospital to treat his injuries.

July 15

Man shot: 7 p.m., officers were dispatched to a shooting at the Kentwood Apartments, 22415 Benson Road SE. The victim had been shot multiple times in the chest and neck. The victim was alert but would not answer any questions nor would he respond when asked for his identity. Officers found approximately 10 spent casings in the parking lot, but no one saw what transpired when the shooting occurred.

July 17

Human trafficking: 8:11 a.m., officers were dispatched to a welfare check at the Arco ampm, 21214 84th Ave. S. A female customer was scared and handed the employee a note with an address suggesting she was being held against her will and the address where they were headed. When officers located the vehicle, a pursuit ensued and ended in the city of Algona. The suspect was taken into custody. The female victim was unharmed and relayed to the officers that she had fallen victim to a human trafficking situation.

July 19

Assault at apartments: 4:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Vibe Apartments, 25220 109th Pl. SE, regarding an assault in progress. Multiple victims reported the suspect randomly assaulted five tenants within the complex, threw rocks, and threatened to obtain a firearm to kill them. The officers were able to locate the suspect on the premises and took him into custody without further incident.

July 20

Shots fired: 2:19 p.m., officers were dispatched to multiple reports of an illegal discharge within the Phoenix Court Apartments, 23913 111th Pl. SE. Reviewing video surveillance, officers saw that two armed suspects arrived in a vehicle and confronted the driver of a different vehicle. One of the suspects opened fire, but the intended victim quickly put his vehicle in reverse, struck a dumpster and fled the scene. The victim did not come forward to report the incident to the police.

July 22

Struck by vehicle: 12:26 a.m., officers were dispatched to an injury collision within the Kent Meadow Apartments, 10609 SE 248th St. The victim resident confronted the suspect and asked him why he was there and noting that his vehicle did not have a license plate. The suspect became angered by the questions, quickly put his vehicle in reverse, and then drove at the victim striking him with his vehicle. The victim was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.

July 23

Multiple shots fired: 2:06 a.m., an Illegal discharge was heard by officers at the Kent Police Station, 232 Fourth Ave. S., coming from the parking lot of First Avenue South and West Titus Street. There was a dispute involving several subjects from Rafiki’s bar, 226 First Ave. S. The argument spilled into the adjacent parking lot where a fight broke out. A male and female ran away as the others walked back in the direction of Rafiki’s. The male then returned leaving the female behind and was holding a gun. He fired multiple rounds directed in the air. No one was be hit by gunfire. Officers recovered a total of 14 casings.

Man shot in arm: 8:48 a.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 20900 block of 124th Ave. SE regarding a suspected drug overdose. Upon arrival officers discovered the person was not overdosing but had been shot in the upper arm/shoulder area. Hours prior the victim had been in his driveway when multiple suspects confronted him, tried to rob him and shot him in the process. The victim was transported to the hospital for surgery.

Shots fired at 7-Eleven: 12:16 p.m., officers were dispatched to a shooting at the 7-Eleven, 20727 108th Ave. SE. Video surveillance showed the two shooting suspects were passengers in a vehicle that had been parked near another vehicle at the gas pumps. As the occupants of the other vehicle came out of the store; the suspects began shooting at them as they left the parking lot. No injuries were reported to police.

July 24

City truck stolen: 3:08 a.m., officers were dispatched to 1621 Central Ave. S., unit number 25 for a report of a commercial alarm. This unit is owned by the city of Kent. The garage roll-up door was destroyed and a vehicle belonging to the state Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) out of Tukwila was left in the parking lot and running. The vehicle had sustained damage to the front and rear of the vehicle. The suspects used the Ford to damage the door to gain entry into business and once inside they found keys to a city of Kent boom truck and stole it by crashing through the door. The suspects had attempted to break into two separate buildings by ramming the doors but did not appear to make entry.
