Incidents include shootings, 7-Eleven robberies

A sampling of Kent Police incidents May 31 to June 11:

May 31

Assault arrest: 5:02 p.m., officers were dispatched to an assault at Snow-White Laundry, 23250 Pacific Highway S. The victim was confronted by the suspect in the parking lot and was struck in the head with a wrench. The suspect was located and arrested.

June 3

Street shooting: 6:46 a.m., officers were dispatched to a shooting in the 100 block of West Willis Street. The suspect had come from a nearby residence, obtained a handgun from a vehicle, and shot the victim before fleeing on foot. The vehicle that the gun was removed from was seized as evidence.

June 4

Apartment shooting: 7:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to a shooting at the Cottonwood Apartments, 25919 25th Lane S. The reporting party (armed security) confronted two subjects who had parked in the wrong parking stall and were urinating in the parking lot. One subject was intoxicated and had words with the reporting party. The two subjects left. A short time later, they arrived back at the apartment complex. The subject confronted the reporting party again and this time pointed an air soft gun at the reporting party. The reporting party pulled out a real gun and shot the victim multiple times. The victim got into his vehicle and drove to the 28800 block of Pacific Highway South where he began to flag people down for help. The reporting party surrendered the firearm used and provided a statement.

June 5

Shots fired: 2:34 p.m., officers were dispatched to an illegal discharge in the 12100 block of SE 212th Court. Numerous witnesses saw a suspect firing a handgun and getting into a vehicle that fled northbound.

June 9

7-Eleven robbery: 4:04 a.m., officers were dispatched to a robbery at 7-Eleven, 18010 East Valley Hwy. Three suspects entered the store, and one immediately pointed a gun at the victim employee demanding the money from the register. They also took vapes and cigars before fleeing in a vehicle.

Another 7-Eleven robbery: 4:18 a.m., officers were dispatched to a robbery at 7-Eleven, at 1481 W. Meeker St. Three suspects walked into the store and began pointing handguns at everyone inside. They demanded the money from the registers and fled the scene on foot.

June 10

Stolen trailer, shots fired: 2:20 p.m., officers were originally dispatched to a possible occupied stolen vehicle in the area of 25300 29th Ave. S. The victim/owner stated his work trailer was stolen in Des Moines 15 minutes prior, and he tracked the suspects into Kent. The phone call then dropped from 911. Officers then were dispatched to a shooting in the 25900 block of 29th Ave. S., where a vehicle was firing at another vehicle. Upon arrival officers found the stolen trailer sitting in the roadway.

The weekend of June 9-11 outside agencies assisted Kent Police with a racer emphasis, here

• Friday, June 9

5 suspects contacted; no enforcement (very limited racer activity)

• Saturday, June 10

Kent PD/Tukwila PD/Auburn PD/Army CID

16 suspects contacted

13 criminal charges (including one suspect who assaulted an officer)

9 infractions written

3 vehicles impounded

• Sunday, June 11

Kent PD/Renton PD/Auburn PD

1 suspect contacted (no racer activity that night)

1 criminal charge
